A Cup of Milk 

A poor boy used to walk through the streets of the city every day, selling small items to help his mother support their family.

One day, despite trying all day, he could not sell anything. Exhausted and hungry, he reached a house and knocked on the door to ask for some water.

A kind-hearted woman opened the door. Seeing the tiredness and hunger on the boy’s face, she gave him a cup of milk instead of water.

The boy drank the milk and, before leaving, simply said:

“May Allah reward you with the best.”

Many years passed.

The same boy grew up to become a successful and skilled doctor. One day, a poor woman in the city became seriously troubled and needed treatment, but she had no money to pay for it.

She went to a respected doctor for help.

By a remarkable coincidence, that doctor was the same boy who had received a cup of milk from a kind woman years earlier.

As soon as he saw her, he recognized her.

He treated the woman and paid all her medical expenses himself.

When she asked, “My son, how can I ever repay you?”

He smiled and said:

“Years ago, you gave me a cup of milk. Today, I have simply returned that kindness.”

Tears filled the woman’s eyes.

That day, she realized that kindness is never wasted. Sometimes its reward does not come immediately, but after years, it can return in the most unexpected way.

So, whenever you help someone, never think about what you will receive in return.
